Sigma Tau Delta
Chi Pi chapter
Becoming a member of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society was a huge honor for me. What inspired me to join the organization was when I was invited to a meeting at the Langston Hughes Poetry Center during my freshman year in college. After learning about what all the organization had to offer such as publications and scholarships, I was motivated to work my way through my classes to become a member. Since you needed at least a 3.0 to gain entry and had to be a Junior and Senior, I dedicated my time to stay focused on assignments and papers. Being a English Major trying to gain such a level of prestige through this organization was a difficult task. With every class taken, I had to keep my grades up. My expectation for each of my English classes, both literature and writing, was to make consecutive As and Bs. By the time I became a Junior, those expectations were met.
The moment I got inducted into the organization, it changed my life forever. I finally reached my goal and became an official member of the Sigma Tau Delta for life. In reflection of that amazing day, I know that this accomplishment will give me great credentials as a writer through my field.
